This is the heart of the internet marketing game.  First you have to create your super site and then (equally if not more important ) you have to promote it!  Things are ever changing on the internet.   Standards rise and fall with such regularity you can easily become lost at sea.  Our philosophy is to keep it simple.   Bells and whistles are great on your personal page but a commercial site needs to get to the point and keep you there.  It has to look good but more importantly it has to be fast and full of  information.  Everything needs to lead directly or indirectly to a purchase ( now would be a good time to glance at some of our products :).  I am not against elaborate sites but when I am looking for something to buy I want it now, not after I sit and stare at a gray box for 10 minutes.  If you do use scripts (java, cgi) or shockwave files (very cool) make sure they provide some sort of interactivity.  Don't use these tools for creating all sorts of flying twirling exploding buttons banners and doodads that we have all seen a hundred times before ( animated .gifs should be used with discretion as well ). Engage your visitor interact with them, gather their pertinent information, and  guide them to the purchase point.  The monetary rewards of this no nonsense philosophy will feel much better in the long run than the compliments you get from your friends for showing off.  Currently we are experimenting with flash 3 shockwave content because it lends itself well to our high-tech products (and yes it's very cool).  Shockwave allows you to create vector based (small file size) smooth interactive animations that "stream".   This is just my opinion based on what worked for us.  If you agree or disagree let me know.   Check out the resources we have used and let us know if they help you too.    Our Directory only contains links we have used ourselves, they worked for us and we are sharing them with you.    We provide you with the location of each resource listed.  We do not endorse or guarantee any of them, but,  they worked for us.      Each link will open in a new window.  When you are finished with a resource close the window to return here.  At the present time we offer you links to:
