Advanced Multi Sensor Pan Tilt Zoom Thermal SRTI

The enemy is real. The night is dark. The job is critical. Get the right tool to get it done!

Advanced Multi Sensor Pan Titlt Zoom Thermal
The future is here now and its more affordable than you think.  In today's uncertain times of world conflict, it has become more important than ever for the good guys to own the night. Traditional pan tilt zoom thermal imaging platforms have long suffered from two majors drawbacks, price and size.  For years these multi sensor pan tilt imaging systems have been monstorous contraptions sometimes standing over two feet tall and weighing in at 100 pounds plus. The support gear required to safely mount and position these units made them extremely unpractical for all but the most extreme of applications. In addition, these behemouths had price tags that could range from a minimum of $35,000 to as high as $750,000 further limiting there use to exotic applications. unfortunately, this set of circumstances meant that a great many agencies that truly need this capability had no hope of ever procuring this expensive and cumbersome technology. The M5 thermal pan tilt zoom system represents a breakthrough in innovative design philosophy that now makes thermal pan tilt zoom systems smaller, lighter and much less expensive. By utilizing COTS components and leveraging existing technologies the M5 can deliver comparable performance at a small fraction of the cost and size of traditional pan tilt systems. A wide range of options and industry standard control protocols further extend the M5's capabilities. The choice is clear for any professional involved in night time operations- the M5 is your tool of choice.

The M5 SRTI Wide Field of View thermal pan tilt zoom camera is suitable for use on buildings and checkpoints, vehicle operations and marine vessel scenarios. When your mission profile demands rugged, wide field of view thermal imaging the M5 SRTI delivers.

Feature Details

High Resolution Thermal Long Range Zoom

High Resolution Thermal

The M5 SRTI thermal multi-sensor PTZ utilizes FPA uncooled micro bolometer thermal imaging sensors with a thermal resolution starting at 76,800 pixels which is a whopping 4 times the typical resolution of so called "affordable" thermal pan tilt units that use sub standard 160x120 pixel cameras. Can you really "afford" to lose pixel resolution when imaging performance is required? If your application demands the very finest thermal imaging sensor resolution possible then we have an ULTRA HD thermal sensor option for the M5 SRTI that will blow you away with a super large format thermal sensor of 307,200 pixels.

Long Range CCTV Zoom

The M5 SRTI is a true Day Night imaging system. The M5 does not skimp on daytime performance and all M5 units feature a razor sharp long range zoom CCTV camera component. The CCTV camera sub-system features an amazing 432x total zoom capability! This is made up of 36x optical zoom power coupled to 12x digital zoom capability. The daytime camera can reach out and touch the target in any M5 system.  The M5 thermal sensor can be coupled to a variety of precision engineered long range thermal germanium optics and digital zoom configurations.

Continuous Rotation

Continuous 360 Degree Rotation

If there is one thing certain about threats its that they can come from any direction and usually move. To truly be secure you must have complete situational awareness and that demands that you can track targets of interest no matter how they move around your position. If you have a thermal ptz system that can only rotate 380 degrees and then has to go all the way back the other way you have a serious blind spot. Unfortunately, many systems costing several times as much as the M5 are configured in just such a way. The M5 SRTI leverages the power of an advanced slip ring technology so that the M5 SRTI can spin continuously in either direction. With the M5 SRTI the technical limitations of your hardware will never cause you to take your eyes off the target. The M5 has your back, and your front, and any other direction you want to point!

Advanced Thermal Features

The M5 SRTI is equipped with the  thermal infrared imaging features demanded by your specific mission profiles. The M5 SRTI is not overburdened with useless features that only overload users. The SRTI M5 short range thermal imager has just what you need including:

  • Auto image exposure so that the operator is not wasting time and attention on image adjustments.
  • Thermal Digi-Zoom to aid in distant viewing.
  • Target color thermal imaging helps the user discriminate targets in the scene.
  • High resolution sensors and high quality germanium optics for clarity and precision in a Thermal Camera system.

User Programmed Auto Tours

User Programmed Auto-Tours

The sensor technology of the M5 SRTI is matched by an intelligent pan tilt positioning system that is easily configured to match the needs of your specific mission criteria. The M5 SRTI has 128 preset points and can be taught to scan between two points while setting speed, direction and dwell. You can also set up to 6 scanning paths with each path containing up to 16 pre-set points. The M5 SRTI has the sophistication to auto scan your area of interest for you. For example you could set the M5 SRTI to Pan/Tilt to the entrance gate, zoom in and hold for 5 seconds. Next the M5 SRTI would automatically Pan/Tilt to the perimeter fence, zoom out and hold for 8 seconds. Then on to the next point all automatically. To stop the scan all you have to do is grab the joystick for instant user control over ride. Simple, intelligent and powerful.

Integrated Wiper

The M5 SRTI comes fully loaded right out of the box with all the features you would expect in a high end surveillance platform. In the real world of harsh weather conditions lenses can become obscured by rain, mud, snow or dirt. The M5 SRTI provides an integrated wiper system to quickly and efficiently clean the lens. Simply activate the wiper from the onscreen menu to see clearly again. No matter what the conditions bring, the M5 SRTI strives to deliver.

Customizable

Easy Installation

The M5 SRTI thermal pan tilt system was designed and manufactured to easily mount almost anywhere. Vehicle, vessel or building installation is a piece of cake. The base of the lightweight M5 SRTI system is secured with a simple 4 bolt mounting pattern. Integrated bushings protect the M5 SRTI from shock and vibration. Thermal Imaging for Law Enforcement and Security

black hot surveillance

Black Hot v. White Hot Thermal Images

While the choice between viewing thermal images as either black hot or white hot is completely up to user preference, each has its own strengths. In general, white hot works best for spotting human and animal targets because the heat they generate tends to make them "glow" and stand out from the environment. In contrast, black hot works best for navigation and scanning a scene because it displays the details of the environment much better. The black hot image to the left was shot in total darkness, and still it is easy to see the land, water and boat structure. This information gives tactical officers a significant strategic advantage.

white hot surveillance

Thermal infrared surveillance technology can provides clues not apparent to the naked eye, with flash or flood lights, or even with traditional "night vision" image enhancement systems. The white hot image to the left was shot in complete darkness. Not only is the suspect visible, but the camera also reveals that the parked car in the background recently arrived because it is still warm. No other night vision technology can deliver this level of detailed information. One of the greatest benefits of thermal imaging technology is the ability to see and document a scene without giving away the officer's location.

border patrol

Thermal Imaging for Border Patrol

Border patrol agents need to cover vastly large areas with a limited number of officers. Protecting borders with thermal imaging increases apprehensions while decreasing strain on officers. Security Magazine reported that with a jurisdiction of 10,000 square miles, the Pima County Sheriff's Department acquired thermal imaging technology. The first four nights, officers returned with suspects and their drug-filled backpacks every night. The thermal imagers allow surveillance officers to overcome one of their greatest obstacles, total darkness. Man sized targets can be spotted over a half a mile away and are also visible in the glare of bright day light. Click here to read the full Security Magazine report.

How Law Enforcement Agencies Use Thermal Imaging Technology:

  • Fugitive Searches: Find anyone hidden in foliage any time of day without giving away the officer's position
  • Routine Patrols: See in the dark and find discarded evidence which retains the heat of the suspect after it has been dropped
  • Tactical Support: Scout scenes before deploying officers and give snipers the ability to make positive facial identification
  • Contraband Detection: Find hidden compartments in vehicles and structures with no physical contact
  • Perimeter Surveillance: Find and track hidden individuals, even if they know a camera is present
  • Search and Rescue: Find stranded fire victims, avalanche survivors, lost hikers, and plane crash victims, even if they are non- responsive

Thermal Imaging Grant Opportunities for Law Enforcement

Law enforcement agencies are continually asked to do more with less, leaving them with fewer financial resources to fund programs and acquire critical equipment. As a result, many agencies seek grant funds to supplement their budgets and achieve their goals.

Below is a list of grant source links for law enforcement agencies. Since the federal government provides a majority of grant funds, most of the links below will refer you to federal grant resources. However, some law enforcement agencies have been successful at receiving grants from other sources such as corporations or private foundations.
