The Ranger™ night weapon sight features a unique offset eyepiece which provides a more conventional cheek position for the shooter, eliminating a major disadvantage of other high profile sights. In addition, the Ranger also incorporates a ballistically calibrated elevation knob to allow the user to adjust to the estimated range using the knob range scale; the knob also provides repeatable "clicks" for highly accurate adjustment of both windage and elevation. A variable intensity red reticle is optically superimposed on the green intensified image, providing an extremely visible, high contrast, accurate aiming capability.

The Ranger features a unique drop-down eyepiece design that is particularly suited for weapon mounting on the carrying handles such as the M16A2.  On other weapons where the mount is elevated to allow clearance over the breech the drop-down feature also offers a better cheek-weld than conventional flat-rail night vision sight designs.

Ranger is activated for operation by  rotary ON/OFF knob that also controls the red LED projected reticle.  A separate knob controls reticle brightness.   Reticle design can be matched to weapons requirements.  Windage and Elevation are controlled by ballistic knobs matched to the objective magnification.  Objective focus is controlled by a focus knob located on the side of the system body.  The objective protective cover includes a built-in training filter that allows use of the system during daylight hours for bore sighting to the weapon.

Ranger is directly compatible with STANAG or Weaver style mounting devices.   Other custom mounts are available upon request.  Ranger is constructed of a high strength composite polymer for ruggedness and lighter weight.  The system contains a replaceable, screw-in desiccant indicator and is equipped with a nitrogen purging valve.

The Ranger  M993 includes 4X objective lens magnification. This system incorportates high resolution U.S. Generation 3 image intensifyer tube. The sight operates on a single "AA" battery.

Standard equipment includes an operator's manual, lens cleaning tissue, lens brush, a detachable rubber eyeguard, shuttered eyeguard, daylight training filter, spare desiccant cartridge, two "AA" alkaline batteries, and soft carrying case.
