The Rugged 400 can be used for a whole range
of applications in many different industries. This portable unit offers high sensitivity
and ease of use. The 400 is built to operate in demanding enviornments, such as offshore
applications and steelworks. the splashproof, bump and vibration protected 400 can be
operated even in areas where elctromagnetic fields are present, for example, close to
induction furnaces.

The standard unit measures temperatures
from -20 C to +500 C with high accuracy in extremes of ambient temperature. Optional
calibration can be retrofitted for up to +1500c temp. measurement.

The Onboard 3 1/2 floppy storage module allows the user to save the
thermal images and also recall them for historical documantation.

Refractory Failure IR image / Alexander Dolgov SU
The 400 camera can also be used for high
temperature Refractory lining analysis, The article below is compliments of Chubb
insurance.
At a steel mill in Pennsylvania, the
refractory lining of a huge furnace developed a crack. Had it not been discovered and
fixed, hot molten steel would have seeped out and burned through the walls of the vessel.
Production would have shut down, the mill itself might have been damaged and workers could
have been severely injured. The situation could have resulted in disaster but didn't,
thanks to the ir 400 infrared camera. The system helped Chubb identify potential losses by
detecting "hot spots" that revealed electrical defects. To date, the scanning
service has helped Chubb customers identify and prevent nearly $11 million in potential
losses.
